#TalkFutures

We aim to inspire young people to follow their passions and make informed career decisions.

Despite huge rises in young people enrolling in further education, the research for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development showed that:

58.8% of UK graduates have ended up in non-graduate jobs

This means that young people are enrolling on courses that have little impact on future careers. A young person being unable to unleash their true potential is never fair, and in a city where under-24s account for nearly 40% of the population, also highly problematic.

We believe that by providing young people with the means to explore the reality of the nature of employment at present, they will be able to make better informed decisions about their futures before committing time and huge amounts of tuition fees on a route which may be unsuitable. From personal experience, we believe in providing young people with the tools to make this decision themselves, through learning about learning styles and personality types, and we feel that this is ultimately more empowering than simply being provided with signposting to jobs alone.

Our very real and recent experiences, from self employment to a real mix of educational and career backgrounds, allows us to provide a unique offering; Careers advice, designed by young people for young people. While we do have the networks to signpost people following up on discussions, not being affiliated to any specific place of learning or business allows us to provide non box-ticking, un-affiliated, honest and empathetic conversations through various means and based upon on our experiences.

While we are the launchers of #TalkFutures, we alone cannot give young people a full picture until everyone #JoinsTheConversation. Using the aforementioned hashtag, Tweet us at #TalkFutures

We need all Young People, Recruiters, Training Providers, Business Owners and curious parties to share there own experiences, words of wisdom and words of encouragement in order to start a real honest conversation about work that young people can trust.

We believe that everyone has a story to tell that can resonate with another.

Over the next few weeks our team will be coming to you in Birmingham City Centre, armed with our ‘find your power’ quizzes, (and maybe some snacks) and advice about finding the right the path for you.

Whether it’s in person or online, we look forward to you joining the conversation!
